That feeling of rage you get when someone messes up the pattern you were making as you took tips from the tip box.

I am always nervous when I read these books, for exactly this reason. Favourite characters DIE.

My upper lashes are more than half decent. I attribute this to my recent wedding, for which I really wanted nice lashes, and since then i have somehow managed to keep my pulling on them to a minimum.
My lower lashes have been annihilated. They’re just, they’re just not, is what they are. I cannot get a handle on them, or rather, getting a handle on them is all I do.
My eyebrows are so-so. I just discovered how to thread my own, and that has actually been good. In order to do it, I have to let them grow a little bit or the thread won’t get the hairs. Because threading is pulling out hairs, I find it very enjoyable. This means I’m able to sometimes stop myself from fiddling with them with the promise that I will get to fiddle with them later [that’s what she said]. It doesn’t always work, so I’m operating with holey eyebrows as usual, but it’s been a reduction.
Overall, I think my trich is currently minimal. I pull, in small amounts, but I’m improved. My lower lashes definitely take the brunt of my attack, and that is upsetting, but at least they are not such a major part of the visage. I’m just trying to stay aware, and keep my hands occupied with something else, like delicious Cadbury cream eggs, which are out already and it’s only mid-January. Love it.
Of not immediately correcting my coworker’s irritatingly incorrect pronunciation of the word “aliquot”. She says “aquilot”, and every time I hear it, my eye twitches. I’m afraid I might scream the next time.
…and I love Joss Whedon, too.
I’m not dead.
I know, right?
God I missed tumblr. I forgot how amazing it is.
Let’s see, I should probably post an obligatory update on the happenings since last May. Oh geez, what hasn’t happened?
· I went to Hawaii and got married. It was exactly as dreamy and gorgeous as that sounds. Despite the fact that I would never want to live in the US, I would totally move to Hawaii. If only it was in Canada (le sigh).
· I lost my cat.
· I stopped running so I could get fat. Actually I stopped because I had been having issues with fainting after longer runs, and my doctor is still sending me for tests. So I am taking it easy until I find out if running could literally kill me or not.
· I got a new phone, with wind mobile. In Canada we have the worst cellphone plans and only recently were independent companies even allowed into the market. I had been paying through my fucking nose for shit service on a shit phone before now, because there was no other option. Now, my bill is the same as before, but I have unlimited EVERYTHING, on a wicked ass Android smartphone. I LOVE WIND.
· I have been utterly unable to make any progress in the job hunt area. I have had precisely one interview (for my dream job), but was their second choice. They told me they had left the job posting up for ten days, and gotten over two hundred applications, many from PhDs and other way overqualified individuals. So, I am competing against effing doctors, which explains why I don’t get called back. So frustrating. I feel like I cannot move forward in life without switching jobs. I can’t move closer to my family, I can’t have kids, until I get a new job. If only I didn’t need money.
· I might get my braces off in just under two weeks. It might also be two more months. But I hope it’s weeks, because I am so mother loving sick of having extra things in my mouth.
Well, those are the major points. Glad to be back, tumblr.
shelbyjean replied to your post:This Sunday I am running my first half-marathon. …
I just ran my first one in december! Im sure youll be fine and no matter what your time is, it will be a huge accomplishment simply to finish. Most people dont run that long. Good luck! :)
Thank you so much! I did finish with a slower time than I’d wanted (2:11:46). It was actually well off the pace I can normally sustain on a long run. BUT, I finished it, and in the end, that was my overall goal anyway.
It was a-MAY-zing. There were so many people, I’ve never run in a race that huge before, and the energy was infectious. There were 300 people alone in my gender and age group (25-34 now, jesus I am old).
The weather was indeed shit. It wasn’t as cold as I thought it would be, and the rain was light enough that it didn’t necessitate a jacket, but it was constant and present. It was windy, especially by the lake. Once the race was over, I froze. It was a point to point, so our car was 21km away. There was a shuttle, which was at least a kilometre from the finish line. My poor aching feet could barely walk there. Then, the dropoff point for the shuttle was another 10min walk from our parking spot. We were wet and freezing and hungry - the food was terrible. They offered granola bars, an apple, a quarter of a plain bagel with no spread, and/or half a banana. Dude, I’ve been to a cheaper 5k race that had better food than that.
In the end, I am so glad I did it. I’m not sure I’ll ever do another.
Now, I am off to Hawaii next weekend to get married. Woot!
